A combination of a stethoscope that fits in your pocket and an AI that runs in the cloud
ChestPal Pro software uses digital signal processing to convert lung sound recordings into spectrograms. It then allocates the spectrograms into normal, wheeze, crackles, or artefact classes using machine learning algorithms built upon a vast dataset labelled by respiratory specialists.
The device detects subtle lung sounds that might be hard to hear. The audible and visual results presented enable you to focus on assessing and treating your patient.

  • ChestPal Pro differentiates between normal breathing, wheezes, crackles, artefacts, and heartbeat.
  • The AI uses spectrograms – a visual representation of sounds, to do such analysis. The spectrogram created is available in the app and may help you see subtle lung sounds that are hard to hear.

ChestPal Pro is an FDA-listed prescription device intended to monitor and record lung sounds and automatically detect crackles and wheezes. It consists of a Bluetooth-enabled stethoscope and an AI-powered app.

App's main functionality:

  • Lung sound recording and classification;
  • Storing individual patient’s lung exam data;
  • Sharing lung exam data.

The AI algorithm differentiates between 5 types of sounds: normal breathing, wheeze, crackles, artefacts and heartbeat. It uses spectrograms – a visual representation of sounds, to do such analysis.

Technical information

To use ChestPal Pro, users should connect their ChestPal Pro electronic stethoscope with an Internet-enabled smartphone using the ChestPal Pro app. The app can be used with iOS 12 and newer models, Android 6.0 and more recent models. The smartphone should support Bluetooth 5.

ChestPal Pro has a predefined recording length of 5 seconds. There is no limit on the number of patient profiles that can be created under one provider's account.
